A “vierkante meter tuin” (Dutch for “square metre garden”) is a garden in a box. It has a surface area of 1 x 1 metre and is 20 cm deep. These mini-plots are very simple to construct and can often be purchased at local garden centres. They are especially suitable for growing herbs, vegetables and for example strawberries.
