Green verges and vegetation along roads can be used for rainwater infiltration. They help, to a limited degree, to absorbĀ particulate matter. Green zones along roads make the city more habitable and provide space for flora and fauna. Under certain circumstances the green zones can be used for rainwater storage and infiltration, as long as the rainwater is not too polluted by traffic and no special purification installations are necessary.
